Planting Tips : Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before planting to rehydrate seeds. Plant seeds in loamy sand or well-drained soil with a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5.
Seed germination and emergence : American ginseng seeds have double dormancy, meaning they require two years (18 months) to begin the germination process. Seeds require 2 winters or simulated cold temperature conditions, known as cold stratification, to be able to germinate in the spring. Our ginseng seeds have already spent the first year in cold storage since September 2022. The seeds will need to be planted before Winter 2023-24 for its second dormancy.
